We work with defence, aerospace and security customers on programmes that depend on reliable electronic systems. Our teams deliver across land, air, sea and cyber, supporting applications such as sensing, communications and autonomous platforms.
Our six-stage value proposition
Full system electronics that perform, integrate and meet real world demands.
We provide an integrated engineering and manufacturing service that takes complex electronic systems from early design review through to build, test and long-term support.
All work is delivered from our UK Sovereign sites by fully authorised and certified teams, with consistent standards across PCB assembly, RF builds, wiring, cabinet integration and full system delivery. Our capability is structured around six stages.
Validate
We begin by reviewing and strengthening the customer’s data pack. This includes assessing schematics, layouts, BOMs and manufacturing notes, identifying risks and clarifying what is required to produce a reliable, manufacturable system.
Our engineers check component availability, highlight obsolescence concerns and advise on the best route to build and test. For prototypes and urgent work, we streamline the data required and confirm the right approach before materials are committed.
This stage reduces early uncertainty and ensures that subsequent work starts on a solid foundation.
Improve
We apply DFM, DFT and DFL principles to improve buildability, test coverage and long-term reliability.
Our teams refine layouts, confirm tolerances, adjust specifications where needed and recommend changes that will reduce yield issues or downstream failures. We also address manufacturability gaps common in incomplete or legacy designs, ensuring the system can be built and tested consistently.
This technical input shortens lead times, improves yield and strengthens overall system performance.
Procure
We source and manage materials for both prototypes and full production, controlling risk throughout the supply chain.
Our procurement and engineering teams work together to confirm component viability, manage allocation and lead times, and address obsolescence before it affects build. We hold approved suppliers, handle specialist requirements and provide full traceability for defence and aerospace programmes.
Talk to us about material and component options
For complex assemblies, we integrate mechanical, RF, cabling and electronic components into a single controlled supply approach. This stage keeps programmes moving and avoids delays caused by material or component uncertainty.
Build
We assemble PCBAs, cables, RF modules, subassemblies, cabinets and full system units within trusted, accredited facilities at Hook and Poynton.
Capabilities include:
- High reliability PCBA, including fine pitch and high-density interconnect
- RF builds, screened work and antenna assembly
- Wiring harnesses and complex electro-mechanical integration
- Cabinet and rack build for advanced systems
- Prototyping using flexible lines for low volume, fast turnaround work
Workflows are controlled by trained operators who follow defined processes supported by our Business Management System and our on-site Training Academy. This gives customers a single, consistent environment for all build requirements.
Test
We verify performance through a comprehensive, on-site test capability.
This includes:
- Electrical and functional test
- RF test, antenna validation and screened room diagnostics
- Environmental testing including vibration and temperature cycling
- EMC and anechoic chamber testing
- Automated test development using DFT expertise
We test to customer specifications and sector standards, producing clear records for configuration control and audit. The aim is simple; confirm that the system performs as intended and is ready for operational use.
Support
We provide ongoing support to keep systems in service over the long term.
Our teams handle repair, rework, refurbishment and RMA activity, supported by detailed diagnostics and controlled re-test. We manage obsolescence risks, identify alternative parts, and redesign affected assemblies when required to extend the life of the system.
For programmes with sustained demand, we support spares, repairs and incremental improvements across the deployed fleet. This ensures mission critical systems remain available, reliable and compliant with updated requirements.
STI offers 4th Line Support as an option provided to our Prime defence customers, and includes repair, refurbishment, and enhancements of depot spares to ensure future equipment availability.
