It was a winning combination on Thursday 19 April: Surface Technology International (STI) was invited by Selex Galileo to their premises at Crewe Toll in Edinburgh to host a Supplier Day that showcased its services, including the newly-launched Research & Development effort, Test Capabilities and highlighting some key Production & Engineering strengths. Not only was this a great chance for Selex personnel to meet with STI counterparts but there was also an opportunity to win a new i-Pad with all proceeds for the day going to charity.
STI’s nominated charity for 2011/2012 is sponsored by 3Mercian Battalion (an armoured infantry battalion based in Bad Fallingbostel, Germany); raffle tickets were sold throughout the day, raising £280, with Craig Findlay being the lucky winner of a brand-new Apple i-Pad. Nick Davey, STI Commercial Director, expressed his delight and appreciation for the support from both Selex and visiting staff who contributed to the monies raised.
Vanessa Mercer, STI New Business Development Manager, said “Alongside one of our key customers, it was a great opportunity to let staff know what Surface Technology is all about and to meet with new Selex personnel – there’s nothing better than meeting people face to face in an informal environment to share news and ideas – and to confirm how much STI is investing in new manufacturing equipment and its global supply chain. We’ve been manufacturing out of the Philippines for over a year now, but it is still fairly new to quite a number of people! Our goal is to give the best purchasing economies-of-scale but not at the cost of lowering quality or compromising on-time delivery.”
This way everyone is a winner – as the day proved!
