Reflecting on the day’s events Matt Timms, Head of Global Purchasing said: “it is always very difficult to take time out of the office so we hugely appreciate the significant investment of time and the support from all of our top suppliers, giving us the opportunity to look back on the year’s developments and to explain the story behind STI’s strong growth – it is important to keep everyone informed about the journey we are on and our plans for the future. It was so good to see all our Key Suppliers here and discuss what the future has in store over the next 12 months, especially in the context of a volatile global economy.”
“Our suppliers are at the very heart of everything we do and are a major contributing factor to our goal of ensuring our customers receive the highest quality product and on-time delivery. All businesses are experiencing pricing pressure and whilst we are not immune to this, we still hold Quality as our number one priority and want to work in partnership to achieve this. We are all in business to make money but not at the cost of quality and delivery”.
On the day, Matt was joined by Simon Best – Group Managing Director, and Nick Davey – Group Commercial Director: Simon took the opportunity to talk about the investment the company is making in STI-Philippines, the new high-volume electronics manufacturing facility based in Cebu and how this will create a wider menu for STI’s customers in terms of volume and pricing options when added to the existing UK capabilities; and Nick introduced the new activities taking place in the R&D team and outlined a number of projects in the pipeline and the plans for further investment.
The day finished with STI’s awards: “Supplier of the Year – Bespoke” was awarded to Graphic Electronics and picked up by David Pike, Managing Director and Trevor Sanders, Sales Director; “Supplier of the Year – Non-Bespoke” was awarded to EBV and picked up by Sarah Fitzgerald-Smith, Regional Sales Manager; and the third award of the day – “Supplier of the Year – Best Supplier Innovation” went to Farnell Electronics and was collected by Harry Lakhal, Business Development Director and Paul Gavin, CEM Business Manager.
