The first quarter of 2014 has seen an active start for STI’s Commercial team as they get out into the marketplace to showcase our manufacturing capabilities while the Company begins the annual recruitment of new talent, both locally and internationally.
Locally is the Southern Manufacturing Show at Farnborough Five: STI has taken stand space for yet another year (Hall 2, stand no R54) for the Sales Team to advertise our full manufacturing capabilities in both the UK and Philippines. STI established its reputation for high quality manufacturing in complex PCBA’s for the Defence, Aerospace and Military sectors and it’s this top level of operational experience which has allowed STI to move into other market sectors, especially using the Philippine’s manufacturing facility as a higher volume and lower cost solution. “It’s key for me and my team to demonstrate STI’s capabilities in the medical, automotive and commercial market sectors,” advised Simon Cruddace, Commercial Sales Director. “Our Philippines manufacturing operation is so completely aligned to our UK standards that we can now take orders in the UK and – mirroring all aspects of standard UK operating procedures – move production to Cebu, thus operating at higher volumes more cost effectively. With all the administration and control in the UK, many new customers are willing to move to a Far Eastern platform more readily to grasp its significant benefits and this will be a key driver for our future business growth globally”.
STI is also supporting the campaign “This is GREAT Britain” being run by the British Chamber of Commerce Philippines (BCCP) and promoted by the British Embassy in Manila. A series of events is being run across the Philippines to highlight the best of Great Britain and the mutual business or trade opportunities between the two nations; STI Philippines (STI-P) is a key sponsor to the campaign and will be exhibiting at the next event “The GREAT British Festival (Manila)” from 7-9 March 2014 taking place in Bonifacio High Street, Fort Bonifacio, Taguig City, Manila. STI-P is proud to both play its part in the local business community and to join a trade exhibition promoting the best of British business, innovation and creativity.
Talent Required: “Attracting key industry talent is critical for STI’s growth plans, both in the UK and the Philippines,” commented Iain Kingsley, Group Executive Director, “and scouting for new talent is a never-ending process for all good companies. Underpinning our Graduate and Internship Programmes we have our HR Manager, supported by members of our Engineering Team, attending various University Career Fairs, meeting the students, telling the STI Story and competing to attract the best.” STI’s first recruitment fair in 2014 is at the Electronic & Computer Science School at the University of Southampton where some highly prized students will be looking for their graduation programme placements or Summer Internships.
