On Wednesday 1st of December 2021, Surface Technology International Philippines (STIP) was delighted to welcome the newly designated British Ambassador to the Philippines, Her Majesty Ambassador Laure Beaufils and Mr. Richard Colley, Director of the UK Trade & Investment.
Cebu is the third official trip of the Ambassador after she arrived this year in August. They were in Cebu to strengthen the signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the Global Future Cities Programme under the UK’s Prosperity Fund with the Local Government. The programme sets out opportunities to promote inclusive urban economic growth and increase global prosperity through targeted interventions on transportation, urban planning and urban resilience.
The visit started with a presentation by Michelle Garilva – Business Development & Marketing Manager – APAC on the Covid19 Health and Safety Policy, Cebu at a Glance, and STI Highlights especially on success stories of STIP with the support of the British Embassy through the years of strong partnerships, and its continuing efforts to increase the export business on targeted market sectors – Industrial IoTs, Medical and Aerospace, Defence & Security globally..
Christine Salem – Operations Manager walked our visitors through the production lines. The Ambassador was very impressed with STIP’s manufacturing capabilities, equipment and manpower that mirror the same pedigree of the UK headquarter.
Lyndon Guba, Site Director concluded the visit by presenting the “500 Years Centennial Coin” as a token of appreciation. He also said “We are delighted for having the British Ambassador to the Philippines Her Majesty Ambassador Laure Beaufils visiting our STI Cebu Factory. It’s with great opportunity for us to showcase our manufacturing capability that will open doors of business opportunities through UK Embassy’s collaboration.”

H.M. Ambassador Beaufils said: “Thank you very much for hosting us today. I feel very much welcomed by the team. It was very impressive, and I am looking forward to be back soon and rest assured that the Embassy will continue to support STI in all its endeavour.”
Richard Colley, Director of Trade and Investment said: “ I have known of STI for a long time but to see the Cebu operation first hand was a real privilege and every bit as impressive as I imagined. It was very interesting to hear how you have diversified and we will continue to look for opportunities where we can”
It is an honour for the Ambassador to visit us, and pleasure to get positive feedback. Thank you to everyone involved for your support in this visit.
