STI LINKS IN TO THE OLYMPICS BY SPONSORING TRACKSPEED1

STI is thrilled to be linked to Trackspeed1 (http://www.trackspeed1.co.uk/) by sponsoring their trackside training. Trackspeed1 coach John Powell was delighted with the support which he says could not have come at a more fitting time: “STI has bank-rolled vital trackside physiotherapy for both London-based training this year at Crystal Palace and our warm weather training camp in the United States.”

One of the shining stars in the Trackspeed1 Team is James Ellington who will be representing TeamGB in the London 2012 Olympic Games 200m and relay.  Coach John Powell said: “James represents all the job satisfaction a coach could wish for – he has grown into a fine world-class athlete and a fantastic individual whom I’m proud to know.”

Equally, STI is just as proud to be involved by being sponsors for James’ Youth Group: “I can see that, on the surface, it would appear to be an unusual link for an Electronics Company to have,” stated Nick Davey, STI’s Research and Development Director, “but STI is a rapidly expanding and progressive Electronics Design and Manufacturing business and like Trackspeed1, we are always nurturing new talent by investing in bright, young, forward-thinking Engineers.  It is only by constantly investing in the development of people and the coaching that improves young talent that we can carry our business towards being the best in our field and can provide our customers with the highest quality solutions – so the relationship between Trackspeed1 and STI is based on the same philosophy of striving to be the best in their field!”

Trackspeed1 is a squad for any athlete looking for self-improvement in the sprinting field. Its motto epitomises the unique spirit and camaraderie in the group – “Achieving Excellence by Endeavour” – and it is certainly one of the strongest and most successful sprints groups in theUKand probablyEuropetoo.  The 2012 summer season is already being hailed by John Powell as potentially his most successful in 36 years of coaching!  And with the coach now able to focus even more on work trackside, everyone is hopeful this momentum will continue long into the future.
