STI Innovations Seminar at the University of Southampton

STI Innovations Seminar at the University of Southampton

Surface Technology International (STI) is ramping up its search for top University talent to join its expanding intern programme or as full-time graduate hires: on Tuesday 22nd February, the management team hosted an “Innovations Seminar” at the School of Electronic and Computer Science at the University of Southampton.  STI is working in collaboration with the ECS faculty on a variety of projects to leverage the University’s top-class talent with STI’s extensive electronics manufacturing platform in Hook and to aid its growing Research & Development team in solving clients’ design and engineering challenges.

The event was hosted by all of the management board – Simon Best – Group Managing Director, Tony Best – Group Director, Nick Davey – Group Commercial Director and Chris Lyon – Group Operations Director, and they were overwhelmed by the attendance and enthusiasm of the students.

As Simon Best commented: “We expected around 40-50 students but ended up with a room of over 100; it was great to see so many people take an interest in STI’s business and to hear the students asking so many searching questions. We are a growing and ambitious business with manufacturing facilities in both the UK and the Philippines in Southeast Asia and we need to tap into more young talent to constantly improve our technology skills.  We received a good number of CV’s from both this evening event and the ECS Careers Fair a few weeks back and we will be hoping to hire a number of Engineering graduates from this group. Also, as a Hampshire based business, we are keen to develop further our links with Southampton University and we are grateful for the hospitality and welcome we received.”
