Surface Technology International (STI) was delighted to host a group of Senior Business Decision-Makers from South Korea during Farnborough Air show 2012 organized by Jiyoung Lee (Mrs), Trade Manager in Advanced Engineering, Transport & Infrastructure for UK Trade & Investment in the British Embassy, Seoul and the Korean Industrial Complexes Corp (KICOX).
Nick Davey, STI’s Research & Development Director and Martin Gower-Smith, Strategic Marketing Manager were pleased to give the visitors an overview of STI’s international manufacturing facilities and operations followed by a full tour of the UK manufacturing facilities in Hook, Hampshire.
“We’ve taken our next step in advancing STI’s capabilities in high quality electronic design support to our clients” advised Nick Davey, “by building a strong research and development team in STI Hook, along with innovation links to Southampton University locally as well as other top Universities in Barcelona and Belgium. This allows us to access the latest new technology and the best talent for STI while supporting these universities on innovative projects.”
Martin Gower-Smith added, “This meeting was a great opportunity for STI, as all of the South Korean businesses we met with today are already working in one of STI’s key market segments – Aerospace and Defence Technology. With STI developing a global platform it was a good chance for us to show potential new customers the company’s capabilities – these opportunities happen rarely and we believe they were all impressed with what we have to offer in design and development of printed circuit boards and box-build products for the electronics manufacturing industry . STI’s operation in Hook has benefited from the vibrant local employment market to become a £50 million pound Electronics Specialist and our Korean visitors certainly took away the message that we hope to forge strong new business relations and pursue further success together.”
STI is working hard to develop and create new opportunities within the design and manufacture of electronic circuitry, offering high quality/low volume PCB’s in the UK market and taking its experience and high quality credentials to support its higher volume/low cost manufacturing facility in the Philippines.
