Life testing to ensure high operational reliability

At STI we advocate applying life testing techniques during the design-and-development phase of your product. This process is the cheapest way of eliminating potential failures, warranty returns and product re-calls due to weaknesses in the design. All products can benefit from this process, whatever the application.

At times safety requirements of products make life testing mandatory. In applications such as avionics, space, defense, medical, and others in which the failure of a system could have serious consequences, life testing provides the necessary checks to eliminate infant-mortality failures and ensure trouble-free operation under harsh operating conditions.

For this reason we have invested heavily in both ESS and HALT/HASS equipment and the associated training required.

HALT/HASS Testing

• Highly Accelerated Life Testing (HALT) for proving product design and limits
• Highly Accelerated Stress Screening (HASS) for proving production assemblies
• 2 chambers that combine temperature and vibration cycling
• Up to 48” x 48” vibration table
• 60 GRMS (10HZ to 5kHZ)
• Six degree of freedom, Random, Omni-Axial vibration
• +200°C to -100°C at 50°C/min
• Liquid nitrogen cooled
• Linking to electrical test equipment for control of chambers

ESS Testing

• Environmental Stress Screening for proving production assemblies
• 8 chambers temperature cycling
• 50cm x 50cm x 50cm chamber size
• +200°C to -70°C at 60°C/min
• Liquid nitrogen cooled
• Linking to electrical test equipment for control of chambers
