STI's Green Team supports local Tree Party |
|
Since its launch, the STI Green Team has introduced a number of internal initiatives in order to reduce the company’s carbon footprint (see our Green Team pages). Additionally, the team is always looking for opportunities to support wider community initiatives that promote sound environmental stewardship.
The Big Tree Party was an event organised by Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council with the aim of planting over 1,500 young trees to form a new area of community woodland. STI was pleased to offer financial support to the scheme, and also to round up a team to get their wellies on and get digging!

In addition to supplying manpower for the event, STI contributed £250 towards the cost of the trees. ‘We were very happy to support this initiative’, says Vicki Hardwick, who heads up the Green Team at STI. ‘We firmly believe that businesses have a hugely important role to play in tackling environmental issues, and the Big Tree Party was a great opportunity for us to demonstrate our support for wider community initiatives. I think there were a few aching backs by the time we were finished, but we were pleased that it was a job well done!’
